Will you be open on May 25 to receive and assemble 2 bicycles ready for pick up on May 28?

Who from Where on 02/11/2018 02:50 PM:
absolutely. Of course you would be a lot better off to contact the business you have in mind and see what they would be willing to do.

Doug from Bluffton on 02/11/2018 03:26 PM:
Jan this forum is not run by a business on the trail. It is only a place for people to leave comments about the trail. If you have questions for one of the businesses along the trail you will need to contact them to get your answers.

Just in time for the annual Katy bike ride Jun 19-23? More than 300 riders. Good for summer opening business. Good luck on your business.

This place has so much potential, but has been under utilized for years. It would great to see it thrive again.

Anonymous on 03/18/2017 07:58 AM:
If it's for sale I could be interested? Seriously.

Kriss from Boonville on 03/19/2017 12:10 PM:
To Anonymous: The High Street Victorian B&B in Boonville is still for sale. If you are serious about buying a B&B this is a great one, and near the trail. Feel free to contact us.

Anonymous on 03/19/2017 05:37 PM:
Looked like the question was about buying a bike shop/cafe not a B&B. Maybe that's what your B&B is??

As someone who comes over from Kansas City to ride the KATY on a regular basis for the past 10-12 years...I could not agree more....TRAILSIDE HAS TREMENDOUS POTENTIAL. It has been terribly under-utilized for YEARS. EXCITED to see someone breathing some life into it and will look forward to give it a try SOON. All best wishes!

Boonville is too far for the bike traffic I'm looking for. Thanks anyway.

Allen from Shawnee on 03/22/2017 08:57 AM:
Hello everyone, I would like to make a comment on the Trailside Cafe and bike shop. If i remember right in it's hay day it was operated by a man that was retired, I think from GM or some auto manfacturer, he really wasn't dependent on it for a living and so it was pretty easy for home to keep it going. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) most of the subsequent owners have been younger and required more money from it for living. Having a business that is only viable for a 7 or 8 months a year and is dependent on trail business doesn't seem to me to be a great model for a business to succeed. I think it's recent history bears this out.
It would be a great opportunity for a retired person as a way to make a little money and have something to do, kind of like a hobby.
I am sure others feel different about this, feel free to comment.
I hope the current owners have great success and prove me wrong.

Allen

Mere speculation about the previous owner Allen.

There seems to be a lot of Katy type businesses that rely on trail traffic for the lions share of revenue. I can see a bike shop/rental not being able to sustain in the off months, but this place is also a restaurant. I could never figure out why the food end wasn't or couldn't be open year round. Maybe enough money was made through the riding season.

I too hope the new folks make a go of it. Looks like a gold mine to me.

Allen from Shawnee on 03/23/2017 05:38 PM:
Yes they are "mere" speculations and I probably shouldn't have even posted them.
Sorry

Allen

I'm the bike traffic anonymous note person. As noted seasonal businesses especially in MO are not full time unless as also mentioned there are other "draws" such as restaurants or antique stores to help them through the off season. Most B&Bs along the trail are part time too. Rocheport though has the history and river location. But my intention would be with the RIT the KT would draw more people too since if advertised correctly could be a gold mine for out-of-state recreational cyclists with the unique distance, looping and variety. I have also looked near the east end near Washington or Union for the KT and RIT connector draw, just as people are looking at Windsor, in the future with the new Rt. 47 bridge supporting bike traffic. There are opportunities there if you can create or find them.

Is it open for business and if so what is the new number?

Keystone9800 from Dallas on 04/18/2017 12:12 PM:
Google showing that it is "Permanently Closed" which in my experience means it is no longer in business.

If you are looking for places to eat in Rocheport, I have been to Mulberry Grill & Bakery right on the trail (only open on weekends/in season). They have very good pizza. I have also eaten lunch at the Rocheport General Store a few short blocks from the trail and it was very good.

If you are looking for rentals, sorry I can't help you there. Good luck. I love Rocheport

This place is CLOSED! From what we understood from locals, it is closed for good. I needed the bike shop and was delighted to find that Tom at the pottery place right behind the general store is helping people out. He was very helpful! And the pottery his wife makes is beautiful!

Story I heard that the closure was related to the health of the owner. I wish them well.

Unfortunate at several levels. This is such an amazing location that one would think that the right ownership could make this restaurant and bike shop a big success...at least seasonally.

George H. on 09/24/2016 04:42 PM:
Does anyone know the owner's name?

George H. on 09/28/2016 06:18 PM:
I contacted Dakota who works at the bike shop? No reply? Does anyone know if the place is closed, up for sale, under new ownership or still open?

Does anyone know of bikes we could rent close to Rocheport this coming Saturday, 10/29/2016? Thank you for your help!!

Does anyone know if this place is still closed? We plan on riding Clinton to St. Charles next month and will go through Rocheport on a Monday.

MidSouth from Rogersville on 08/31/2016 02:08 PM:
Not sure, give them a call. Will probably have to pack a lunch from Boonville. You should be able to find something at Coopers Landing in Easley.

Anonymous on 08/31/2016 02:51 PM:
MANY places are closed on Monday. My guess is that you are going to have to carry food. But - as suggested - you might call. Good luck.

Anonymous on 08/31/2016 02:57 PM:
Les Bourgeois and the Rocheport General Store are open on Monday. If you don't feel like riding or climbing the hill to the bistro, the general store is a good option. Unless you just want to carry food.

Anonymous on 09/01/2016 10:38 PM:
The General Store! Awesome.

Jodygofast from Columbia MO on 09/02/2016 03:41 PM:
Just wanted to let you know that Rocheport General Store is closed Monday and Tuesday. Didn't want you to ride up and be disappointed. I go there often and just talked about this to the waitress the other day. The hours are also posted on their website.

Anonymous on 09/02/2016 04:45 PM:
Thanks for confirming. I thought it was closed the last time I was through on a Monday. I was really glad I had a Honey Stinger waffle and a Payday in my seat bag. Thanks again!
