Hammock Camping Sites

Looking to stay close to Hermann and want to hammock camp. The city says they allow tents, but not sure if trees are close enough for hammock. Has anyone used a hammock in Hermann or know if it has/can be done?

Someone posted a message where they have used hammocks, but I did not see Hermann on the list.

Thanks in advance!

About 2-3 weeks ago I posted that I had hammock camped at Bluffton and at Marthasville, but I have never camped at Hermann.

Lots of folks ride out from StL and spend the weekend in Hermann. Someone had previously written on this website that they camped at the City Park. You may want to follow up on that.

I've camped in the Hermann city part a few times using a tent. There are a few trees plus a few shelters so you should find somewhere to put up the hammock. Come to think about it, there's a lot of trees near the creek; however, the creek is near a busy road so you may hear a lot of traffic noise during the night.

I was in Hermann last week, with my hammock, and decided to give it a shot. Went to the city park and found a pavilion. I called ahead and the lady on the phone told me the park maintenance said I could hang between the pavilion poles, provided the picnic benches weren't in my way.

The benches are semi-bolted in place and can't really be moved, but there are 3 pavilions, 2 of them suitable, for hanging hammocks. The good thing is, you are under a shelter, there is potable water right there, and a bathroom with warm water showers close by.

I stayed in Shelter 1, which will accommodate about 4 or 5 hammocks. Shelter 2 is pretty useless. Shelter 3 should accommodate about 3 or 4 hammocks.

There are some trees close to the creek, but too close to the road for my taste and probably prone to mosquitoes if it's warm.

If anyone is interested, I can provide a link to photos I took showing my rig and the pavilions, along with photos of the bath house and showers.
