I cannot wait to get back to bicycling on the Katy Trail. I swear I'm addicted. It's like I'm in withdrawal or something. Am I the only one? If there's more of you out there, shouldn't we have some kind of support group, like Bike Katy Trail Anonymous (BKTA)?

Anonymous on 2/5/2016 7:47:13 AM:
Looks like you were just up too late.

Don from Ellisville, MO on 2/5/2016 8:05:39 AM:
Early risers are addicted, too. I hope the BKTA group has a 12-pedal system for recovery.

Allen from Shawnee on 2/5/2016 3:26:44 PM:
Hello my name is Allen, I am a Katy trail rider and I would like to join BKTA. I admit I am powerless over bicycle riding, My garage is full of bikes and I need help in the worst way.??

Hank on 2/6/2016 9:36:15 PM:
I am certainly one of the addicted, Cathy. Being on the trail lifts my spirits in a way that nothing else does. It won't be long!

Cathy from Jefferson City on 2/7/2016 12:06:25 AM:
Glad I'm not the only one that can't wait for warm weather.

If anyone gets out on the trail, let us know what the conditions are.

Rode the trail yesterday from Columbia to Hartsburg and back. It was such a beautiful day! The trail had soft areas for sure...got muddy, but it was well worth it. Most of the trail was pretty good. The MKT had been resurfaced between the eastern Perche Creek bridge (just at the curve) and McBain and it was nice smooth riding! Love the Katy Trail and admit I am also addicted!

Anonymous on 2/7/2016 11:05:46 PM:
Count me among the addicted as well.

Thanks for the update.

Was wondering about how soft the trail was...

Can you say "endorphins" people.

Will from Columbia on 2/10/2016 4:45:34 AM:
I a biker and like to ride the local MKT and the Katy Trails often myself. I've rode the full length of the Katy Trail 3 times and will be doing it again in June with 350 others on the DNR sponsored annual ride. We will be riding east to west this year. If you're wanting to ride with this group, registration start on 1st of March. It fills up fast. Happy Trails.

Anonymous on 2/10/2016 7:17:33 AM:
Actually I rode the DNR ride and hopefully excessive rain won't cause flooding. We had to get bussed around the flooding near Rocheport. I think average age is about 48. Be prepared to ride some of the rolling hills off trail to get to the campsites at the end of the day. If you camp bring plenty of bug repellent and ear plugs for the campgrounds. Also summer rain storms can wake you in the middle of the night to go to a storm shelter. Hey that's why it is so much fun. Don't miss it.

Jerry Whittle from Belleville, Illinois on 2/10/2016 7:45:42 AM:
I'll see you there Will. I have a reminder to register on my computer set to pop up on March 1st at 8 AM. I ride a green Windsor Tourist and will probably be using Padre's tent service again this year.

Will from Columbia, MO on 2/11/2016 6:19:28 AM:
Hi Jerry, I have my alarm set as well to register on the 1st of March. I'm hoping to ride more this year before the DNR ride, last year I didn't get much riding time in the saddle and it showed on that long 70 mile day of riding. Oh, I'll be on a Neon Green Trek "seven.3" hybrid. And I'm 6'5", so I'll stick out and up! You'll be able to spot me for sure!

John from Columbia on 2/16/2016 1:40:14 AM:
Ditto to this thread! I'm riding como to stl starting tomorrow, with plenty of time just in case the trail is toast. Should be interesting. I will update everyone with trail status. checklist done, now all i need to do is actually sleep. Im too excited

DM from Columbia, Mo. on 2/16/2016 8:40:18 AM:
John, I am excited for you. I hope the rain today is not too discouraging, and perhaps it will improve the surface and riding conditions for the rest of your time on the trail. The next several days forecast looks ideal! Looking forward to your updates. Enjoy!

John from Columbia on 2/16/2016 3:06:04 PM:
Thank you DM! Minutes and counting!

RGR from Southern Missouri on 2/23/2016 4:10:23 PM:
So, John, did you finish? UPDATES

patRICK from Clinton on 2/28/2016 8:40:49 PM:
We rode from Calhoun to Windsor and back today. Trail is in very good condition. There is quite a section that is covered with deep horse orunts which was the only rough section. Felt great to be out again!

Anonymous on 2/29/2016 8:06:30 AM:
Thanks for the update on the trail condition for that stretch of the trail.

Padre's Cycle Inn from St. Charles, MO on 2/29/2016 2:26:13 PM:
Jerry Whittle, Thanks for using Padre's Cycle Inn! We'll be there again this year, offering full-service camping for the DNR Katy ride. See you in June!

I rode the trail from Weldon Spring to Augusta yesterday, and it is good to go! Much better than last weekend.
