My wife and I stayed in the cottage next to Doug's house where he provided for our every need. Doug went out of his way to provide a place to stay that was more than just a hot shower and a comfortable bed. He made every effort to create an experience with all of the delicious food, the bonfire, and sharing his home in general, as if it were a responsibility to humanity! I hope to see again next year and have the opportunity to see his record collection a little more in depth. Thanks for an amazing experience.

Too many spiders in my room at the Rendleman B&B and air conditioner did not work. Not clean! Doug was very friendly but if cleanliness matters at all to you, skip this place.

from Wikipedia...grin...While the venom of a few species is dangerous to humans, scientists are now researching the use of spider venom in medicine and as non-polluting pesticides. Spider silk provides a combination of lightness, strength and elasticity that is superior to that of synthetic materials, and spider silk genes have been inserted into mammals and plants to see if these can be used as silk factories. As a result of their wide range of behaviors, spiders have become common symbols in art and mythology symbolizing various combinations of patience, cruelty and creative powers.....now from me...spiders have been here longer than we have...I've never found Doug's to be "unclean"...maybe he just doesn't support all the Monsanto chemicals...I think he's more of a beer and honey kind of guy!

Our buddies at hotel rescue have extensive research on public opinions and a majority of the hotel staying public say they will not return to a hotel or book at the same chain if the hotel is not clean. I believe B&B owners do not have that perception since they believe it is a private home to them whether the spider venom is beneficial or not. Any comments are welcomed.

I have always enjoyed my stay at Doug's. I visit him 4 or 5 times a year. Tons of Great food and the company is even better. Yes, it is a 150 year old farm house, but it is clean and has home brew beer! It's not a 4 star hotel but then neither are his prices.
