What a horrible place. The skinny blond haired guy was picking his REAR and then went and cooked my food that was majorly overpriced.
I will never go back! Food and bike prices increase 150% every year.
It cost 10 bucks for a hamburger and fries!

Trek on 4/4/2009 10:40:06 AM:
If you were watching someone "picking his REAR" why would you then claim the food as yours? That would sound like a good time to cancel your order instead of accepting majorly overpriced, REAR picked food and then complaining about it on a public forum. To each his own...

The Trailside Cafe was MOST accommodating last year when we were
caught in the flood. The bike shop mechanic shuttled us around the
flood (yes, we paid him) as well as replaced a tire, tube, and labor
for $27--they could have asked any price, but I thought that was very
reasonable!

Trek - The way you are so defensive about this place tells me you are either a troll who just likes to create issues, or an employee at this place. Which would just add to the "rude employees" part, as you are very rude. He is on this forum, giving his opinion as is the point of this forum. He didn't say he "claimed the food as his" afterward. He posted what his experience was, and didn't give any details as to whether or not he cancelled his order or not. You are one cantankerous person. I came to this forum because I am planning a bike ride along the Katy Trail and will be stopping in Rocheport along the way. After reading these reviews (far more of them negative, than positive), I fully intent to stay away from this place and try the BBQ place behind it instead. Far too many people with negative experiences. And even those who post "positive" reviews aren't extremely positive. Usually along the lines of "this place is okay" or "yes, it's slow, but . . . " I doubt I will be missing much by skipping out on this place. Especially since someone like Trek is defending it so much. lol

Trek is a troll?? Wow, I didn't know! Five, six, or seven years of reading his comments on this forum, and I didn't know. They seemed, for the most part, so well reasoned and informative. Geez, I'm so naïve.

Shame on you Trek!

Jim from St Thomas on 4/7/2013 6:48:50 PM:
If the prices have risen 150% a year they must have been dirt cheap when they opened.

Gary from Near Tebbetts on 4/8/2013 11:28:53 AM:
Well I suppose only Jon can satisfy our curiosity..... so how about it Jon, did you eat that burger and fries or not?

Billy from Mokane on 4/10/2013 3:59:02 PM:
Trek is an OK dude. Gives good advice.

Donaldo on 4/14/2013 3:50:54 AM:
I like Trek too since I saw him in that cartoon movie of his name. I would have thought he would have been smaller since he rides so many miles on the KT. Keep up the good fight both Trek and Anonymous.

FWIW, the BBQ place right around the corner has awesome bbq, great service, reasonable prices, and I've never seen him pick his butt. Although I've never had any issues at the Trailside Cafe, there are some new places in Rocheport to check out.

Danny from Springfield on 4/19/2013 4:47:51 PM:
Yeah i have to agree that the Trailside Cafe is not great. Very overpriced, the food stunk and they even kicked us out because they decided to leave early. Glad there are new options!

I have to admit that we stopped there last May over Memorial Day weekend when it was extremely busy. They were extremely slow (although I figured it was just because they were so busy). They were out of everything and I ended up just getting ice cream and a couple of Gatorades. I would also have to say that the employees were rude, and I think this year, as others have suggested, I will try the bbq place.

Denbo from louisville KY on 5/15/2013 3:47:44 PM:
We stopped here for lunch on the 3rd day of a 5 day ride from Clinton to St. Charles. All 4 riders were wondering why there were so many negative comments on this site. The help was friendly and competent and the food was good trail food. What do you expect?

Brett Dufur from Rocheport on 9/25/2013 7:53:28 AM:
Unfortunately the BBQ place is now closed.

jb on 10/15/2013 9:55:11 PM:
where can we go in Rocheport on Sunday afternoon to watch the Chiefs game and maybe eat a burger

Anonymous on 10/16/2013 9:50:04 PM:
Sorry to hear the BBQ place didn't make it. It is a tough business.

Jeff from Overland Park KS on 7/4/2014 9:58:55 AM:
I rode from Washington to Sedalia last fall. After numerous flats, I was ready to purchase better tires. I am very thankful Trailside was there and open. They not only sold me tires, but very nice Kevlar lined touring tires! I have rode over 1000 miles on them since, and not one flat. Reasonably priced quality products, on the trail, is a blessing! Thank you Trailside Cafe & Bike Shop.

there are some wonderful places to eat in Rocheport. This café is now under new management. We go there all the time.
