I'm surprised there is no reference on here to the Eagle Bluffs Overlook Trail which is a few miles east of McBaine. Even though I was kind of in a hurry, I stopped here for 20-30 minutes to climb to the top and look out over the river valley from a platform on the side of the bluffs. The sign says: Strenuous Climb / Beautiful View. Maybe the view isn't as beautiful as the climb is strenuous, but it still a worthwhile little hike.

There is a better lookout really close to there. If you are traveling towards Jefferson City and
stop just passed the information kiosk on the right you will see a MDC sign on your left. If
you walk up that little hill and crawl over the little bluff then walk up the really steep hill to
your left you will end up right by the perche hole on the bluff. That lookout is far higher than
the one that the MDC built but its still on MDC land so you are free to go there.

I'm sure that didnt make sense but I tried! I enjoyed that lookout way before MDC built the
steps etc.
