Summit Lake Winery (Hartsburg)

My son and I stopped here on our third day of riding. The food was wonderful and they were very friendly. When we told them we were riding to raise money for Relay For Life, they fixed us up with a care package consisting of a cooler with ice, bottled water, pop and oranges. They had it delivered to the caboose aceoss the street where we were staying. One of the employees cooked breakfast for us and brought it to us at 7:00am. The breakfast was awesome. The caboose we stayed in was very nice. We left Hartsburg feeling like a couple of celebrities.

Summit Lake Winery has two locations, although I am prejudiced toward the Hartsburg location where I live. John Farrier also owns the incredibly beautiful "main Summit Lake winery in Holts Summit" overlooking the Capitol and the Missouri River Bottoms. Hartsburg is smaller & more friendly and Holts Summit is beautiful and majestic.
If you like friendly and cozy come to Hartsburg. If you want to be dazzled go to Holts Summit. Both have the same good wine and food.

My wife and I like both Summit Lake Winery locations, but especially love the one in Hartsburg. It's a wonderful experience to ride into town, roll over to the winery, order a good glass of Missouri wine, then enjoy it on the deck before heading out again. This is rare and wonderful treat for the body and soul!

I stopped by the winery after riding from Hartsburg to Wilton and was greeted with a smile. The wine was great and there was plenty to taste! I have already recommended this winery to friends. However, bring cash because they accept cash or checks and the atm we chose to use in the local tavern was out of order!

We took a break here last week and ended up on the 6 o'clock news after being interviewed about the flooding. (My 2 minutes of fame!!) We tasted some wine and ended up riding back to Jeff City with a wine bottle where my water bottle used to be (FYI...it's a perfect fit)

A group of six of us ate here June 3rd. Excellent food, great wine. The patio is such a wonderful place to sit in nice weather. We had a great time! Whatever wine you have with your meal, end the evening with a bottle of Port and conversation. How can you go wrong?

With a bottle of Portugal wine? When in Missouri, try a good Les Bourgeois or Stone Hill......of course there are many other good Missouri vineyards.

The 'port' is a fine Missouri "port" I mean, Missouri has Mexico and Paris...why not Portugal

I havent been through Hartsburg in a few years. Did the old Thornhill Winery get bought out by Summit Lake? Any info would be great.

Yes. Summit Lake has a location in Holts Summit and this is a new location with different
menu items...oh, and the wine is good too! Plus, they have Guiness which is a plus for me!
