Getting There
By trail:
From the North Jefferson trailhead, follow the Katy Spur trail toward the capitol and to highway 54.
This will lead you to the bridge - note that the bridge only has a bike lane on the northbound side
(i.e. you will be riding against traffic going into the city).
Also note that you will be riding right next to high speed (60 MPH) auto traffic.
Some Jefferson City hotels offer shuttles to carry their guests across the bridge.
By car:
From highway 70, take exit 148 (Kingdom City exit). Head south on highway 54.
This regional map includes Jefferson City, near the bottom.

I started my hike here and so followed the advice of others and called taxi for ride to trailhead. However, after I saw bridge, I felt that I could have walked it but it would have been quite a ways on busy road so cab fare was worth it overall. However, it takes an hour for the cab to get to the train station so consider calling them BEFORE you get to JC.

Day 2 of our ride took us from Rocheport to Portland. We learned the hard way that many businesses close on Mon and Tue along the trail. We took the spur into Jefferson and arrived at the Airport Cafe at 2:30 having eaten only a granola bar since an early breakfast. The cafe closes at 2:00. The doors were locked and the staff was taking the last of the trash out the back door. I asked the staff if I could purchase ANYTHING from the fridge. They returned with a huge box of fried chicken (still hot and fresh), cole slaw, and ice water. It was quite possible the best chicken we had ever eaten. I tried 3 times to pay them - they would not take our money. The staff at the Airport Cafe made this a highpoint of our trip - we will be back.

We were sitting at the North Jefferson trailhead bemoaning our fate. Should we fix our tires
and ride over the bridge to jefferson City and try to find a bike shop or should we try and ...
