Katy Trail Elevations

Below are the elevations (altitudes) for towns along the Katy Trail.  As you can see, there is some variation in the western section, and then a gradual decline heading eastward from Boonville where the trail runs alongside the Missouri River.

Thanks to Gary Irwin for providing this chart.

We were fortunate enough on our ride Memorial Weekend to have gone
West instead of East. Arriving in Boonville we climbed an average
bridge and were rewarded with a nice little downhill by the casino! ... View Full Comment

Subject:  KATY trail terrain

My husband and I are new bikers and want to try to KATY trail. His skill level is much higher than mine. Can someone tell me what the grade from Clinton to Sedalia is like? Little hills, big hills, gradual grade? Is there a section of the trail that would be best for the beginner who can't handle much in the way of hills?

Thanks for your advice.

Subject:  Ride in early August?

A group of us would like to do a section of the KATY trail and wine touring. Have to do it early August due to school, etc. Is this recommended, or will it be too hot/humid? Also, can you suggest the best section to ride for 2-3 days, riding roughly 30 miles/day, in order to visit the wineries too?

We are coming to Missouri in late June. Which part of the trail is most scenic? Where can we get shuttles so we can ride just one way?
