Is the bridge to washington mo very unsafe for bikers? We wish to start at Dutzow, park our car and bike to Jefferson city then return to washington by amtrak.

MY DAUGHTER AND I FREQUENT THE KATY TRAIL AND THE DUTZOW DELI IS ONE OF OUR FAVORITE STOPS. WE HAVE ENJOYED BOTH BREAKFAST AND LUNCH AT THE DELI AND EVERYTHING TASTED GREAT AND THE SERVICE WAS GOOD.

Art, of the Brick Inn in Washington, recently helped some stranded Katy Trail bicyclists (us). When we called him without warning, he rushed over in the Brick Inn Cadillac convertible, whisked us to Washington, and gave us a tour of the town to boot! With service like this, you know the Inn has to be outstanding.

The owners of the Brick Inn are bike friendly. They will do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable, including a free shuttle service from Dutzow across the bridge to Washington. That's a GREAT service at the end of a long, hard day on the trail. Plus Washington is a great town with lots of interesting shops & restaurants.

I pulled into the B & B right off the trail at Marthasville, no one answered my knocks, so I called the number on the sign/brochure. For some reason they were not accepting any boarders that night. Total bummer. I then biked into Dutzow and saw the Deli/Restaurant and talked to them about local lodging. It seemed that my only choice was to go to Washington-10 miles away and across that bridge. It was totally dark at this point. Understanding my plight, the lady/manager took it upon herself to help a stranger in need, loaded me & my bike into her minivan and drove 10 miles ou...
