Bar and grill is easily accessed from the trail. A friend and I stopped for lunch on 10-18-2008. The double burger was huge. The waitress was friendly, though very busy.

Nice Establishment! Easy to locate. Service and people were great. Pork Tenderloin sandwich was fantastic! Went back next day for lunch. The bike rack on the side of the building made me feel welcomed.

Stopped after a twenty mile ride, and both the service and the food provided us with the necessary energy to continue on our way. The cheeseburger was inexpensive and very tasty, and although I had three full glasses of iced tea, I never once had to ask for a refill!

We bicycled on the Katy trail and pulled off at Defiance for lunch, about 1:30pm on a Thursday. We chose Dave and Jacquie's because of its variety in food. It was quaint and clean. The toasted ravioli was great but the BLT sandwich won us over. While we were there, two motorcyclists came in and sat in the bar. They didn't exhibit any adverse behavior. My kids are 9 and 11 (a boy and a girl) and I felt fine having them there. I'd eat there again and recommend it for a taste of small town atmosphere.

Where the hoosiers of St. Charles go. Or where the wannabe bikers roar into the area, drinking, fighting, urinating, and whatever else hoosiers do.. good food, horrendous crowd, most of whom are NOT local on the weekends. A dive comparable to Fast Eddies, but without the upscale IL clientelle... and that's saying something.

Been to both Fast Eddie's and Dave and Jacquies.....I'll take Dave and Jacquies! It's probably my age showing but I've had my fill of noisy, crowded, overhyped and overpriced bars. Plus....you've gotta love the stuffed squirrel collection.

Blah from St. Charles on 03/10/2006 01:01 PM:
I concur this place is nicer than Fast Eddie's. The local people there are great. However, wannabe suburban bikers riding Harleys who invade the area during spring and summer ruin the place. And their bikes are way too loud to enjoy anything. I figure the smaller a certain body part on a male biker, the louder the bike..

Sound like Blah has a serious case of Harley envy!

Visited during the week. Good food and service, not crowded, friendly. Full menu (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Cheap and clean.

Skip it. Very unfriendly. It must be an outsider thing. We had washed up and didn't look like

cyclists at all but it was a chilly atmosphere.

We rolled into Defiance hungry & low on cash. Went to Terry & Kathy's tavern, where we were told we could buy food at the outside patio, but the patio only accepts cash - no credit. Inside the bar, they do take credit cards, but they won't sell food. OK, you don't want our business.

So we walked across the street to Dave & Jackie's, where we enjoyed an awesome meal (I highly recommended the grilled chicken sandwich) and were amused by the stuffed squirrels playing cards. If you're looking for a meal in Defiance, Dave & Jackies is the place.

I disagree. I go to Terry and Kathy's with my dad sometimes and I like their food. They even gave me free peanuts! My dad is well known to them and their good friends, but they have good food and thats what matters. I haven't actually met Terry but Kathy is really nice. I would recomend this restrant.

Dan and Jamie from St Louis on 06/28/2005 01:11 PM:
The people were really friendly at Dave and Jackies. The service can be kinda a slow but the food is worth stoping by.

Ray (webmaster) on 07/29/2005 11:38 AM:
OK, here's the story: the guys who sells hotdogs and stuff on the Patio is not actually part of Terry & Kathy's. He is a separate business; Kathy lets him sell food there for the convenience of the customers. So the tavern always accepts credit cards, but the independent BBQ vendor does not.
