Although there is no link on this page, the website of the "Cottage Guest House in Augusta" is http://augustacottage.com/tour.htm. I bet their bookings go up when people can find them on the web.

What a fabulous place! Comfortable, clean, classy....and a special deal for Katy Trail cyclists! I saw "cottage for two" and thought it would be expensive, but it wasn't! We slept at least 10 hours in the quiet neighborhood and comfortable bed surrounded by pillows! Thanks, Kitty (the owner)!

Does anyone have recommendations on lodging in Augusta? We plan to stay there 2, possibly 3 nights & cycle in both directions from home base.

The Cottage Inn is tops. Stayed there twice.

We've stayed as H.S. Clay House Bed and Breakfast several times now -- it's exceptional. We keep coming back because the evening appetizers and breakfast in the morning is gourmet, not to mention the owners are really nice people. Their website has a large collection of photos of the place. There's a link to their site on this page.

We stayed at the Lindenhof and it was great. Breakfast was awesome.

Our children had given us an overnight at the Swan Haven Inn. We had to reschedule multiple times and Jacqui and Gene were VERY kind about it. The Inn is historic, charming, clean and comfortable. The wine and cheese was delicious and the breakfast was complete with fruit, fritata and scones. The hospitality was outstanding. Take a soak in the footed bathtub after the trail! What a reward!!!

This cozy cottage built for two was just what the doctor ordered. My husband and I are both

athletic and rather competitive, so it was a delight to be able to come back to the privacy of

the cottage after a day on the trail. We relaxed, shared a little wine and spoke for hours on

the large covered porch. The cottage was just perfect in a storybook kind of way; the fun

didn’t end once we left the trail.

During a recent tour on the Katy we had a chance to stay at The Lindenhof in Augusta. It was the cleanest B&B on the trail and meticulously maintained inside and out. The innkeeper Debbie is most personable and a pretty good cyclist in her own right. Thanks again, Debbie for a terrific stay!

accomodations (Augusta)

I'm looking for accomodations near Augusta for two single girls who want to bike the Katy trail. All of the b&b's are geared toward couples with queen/king beds. Does anyone know of accomodations with either 2 single or 2 double beds per room?

Anonymous from Augusta on 03/06/2006 04:33 PM:
I think the Old Town Augusta Inn - near the trail - has a two bed setup.

About 15 miles west of Augusta is the Peers Store. It's a little country store where you can rent the room above the store overnight for a very reasonable rate. Two beds, very comfortable, and the owner is very interesting and full of stories.

If you are just looking for a place to lay your head, check out the cabins at St. Charles County's Klondike park. The are sparse, sleep up to 8, no heat or cooling...but it's a roof, a bed, shower facilities within the park and only $60 (half a B&B).

I am also getting together a group of girls to ride the katy trail. We were wanting to sleep somewhere near augusta but can't find anything for about 6 people. We don't want to have to rent bed and breakfast rooms. Does anyone have any ideas?

We spent the morning exploring the Katy Trail. Went back to our adorable cottage to clean

up, spent the afternoon at one of the excellent wineries and then returned to the cottage for

a perfect evening. The Cottage was the perfect get-a-way for us. We both look forward to our

next trip!
