We stayed at Victoria's Place (formerly Cliff Manor Bed & Breakfast) for a night during our full Katy Trip. (Trip was Aug 17-22)- The manor itself is lovely and Victoria was a fantastic host. There was a lockable shed for bike storage overnight. She had snacks, soda and water all available to us during our stay. It was a little bit rainy that night, but we walked a few blocks for dinner and then Ubered back to the B&B. The breakfast of beignets, fresh fruit and scrambled eggs was a perfect way to start out the next day of riding. The view of the Missouri River and JC Bridge from the back of this home cannot be beat. I highly recommend this B&B if you plan to stay overnight in Jeff City.

Yup, we took the pedestrian bridge over to N. Jefferson City from the N. Jefferson trailhead. This B&B is maybe 50 yards from where the trail spur ends in N. Jefferson; just after crossing the river. We walked maybe a 1/2 block to the Irish pub and had a great dinner. Stayed at B&Bs along the trail, except for the hotel in Sedalia, and all of them were great.

Great place to stay and VERY easy to get to from the bridge. Victoria is a great host who provides a great breakfast to start the day. Paddy Malone's Irish pub is a short walk. Beautiful mansion with great views of the Missouri River and the Capitol.

My husband and I stayed here for one night as part of our ride on the Katy Trail. It's easy to get to from the trail, there is a separate pedestrian bridge and the only road riding is on small roads with little traffic. The view from the Inn is beautiful. It's a lovely, historic building, charming with modern conveniences and the breakfast was delicious. Loved that we had the option to have breakfast at 7:30 am so we could get an earlier start on the trail. The nearby Irish Pub was closed because we were there on a Monday, but we walked downtown past the capitol and had a delicious dinner at Madison's. And the walk was enjoyable. Highly recommend this place!

STAY HERE!!!
I stayed on a Wed midweek night as an overnight layover on a bike trip along the entire Katy Trail. I happened to have the entire mansion (that's what it is) to myself as the lone guest.
I highly recommend this B&B. Everything about it is well-done, classy and with the greatest detail directed to the Guest. The decor alone is inspiring; well appointed in period furnishings and artifacts. Obviously an OLD house, the place was immaculately clean. The bed, bath, room were all excellent. A cool evening on the veranda was great place to sit and enjoy a view of the Capitol dome.
Liz, the managing host, was welcoming and attended to my every need upon check in. She offered immediate bottled water and refreshment, and escorted me around the house to explain the history, layout, services. Great.
One of the best parts was Elizabeth the Cook, who came to the B&B to personally prepare my breakfast to order. I had some "special needs" for the morning repast and she was gracious in every sense. I greatly appreciated her thoughtful and generous service.
If you plan a Katy ride and want to break the trip into reasonable segments (30-40 miles a day or so), there are very few places to stay in the long empty place between Rochefort and Hermann. N. Jeff City is the right spot to get off the trail and enjoy and evening at the Cliff.
The only "shortcoming" for bike travelers is (a) the interesting bike ride across the Mo River Bridge and the Jeff City spur - but it's worth it; (b) no good convenience stores nearby for personal supplies/drinks, etc.; (3) only one evening eating establishment within walking distance - but it's civilized.
Liz (the mgr) ensured my bike and bike trailer were securely locked in the shed. They have facilities for riders. BUT ..... the ride across the spur and bridge are very well worth it.

At the Cliff Manor Inn you get everything one could wish for and expect in a B&B. The price is right. The ambience was fantastic and appropriate to my mission. The customer service was beyond expectations. If ever I ride the Katy again, the Cliff Manor Inn will be one of my stops.

We stayed at Cliff Manor on June 23rd. What a great find! The home is rich in history and the room we chose overlooked the river. Our room was perfect after a long day of riding. The hot tub was great for sore muscles. When I made the reservation, I'd wondered how hard it would be to cross the bridge over the Missouri River, but I shouldn't have worried. The ramp was easier than many hills we'd already encountered on the trail east of Boonville. On our way back to the trail the next morning, we stopped at a riverfront park after exiting the bridge ramp. It's a small park, but worth the look!

Don't let the ride off the trail to this B&B give you second thoughts about staying here, it is well worth the easy ride over. Thom is the best! He knows how to make you feel like you never want to leave. He cleaned our filthy bikes, filled and chilled our water bottles and had everything out and ready to go the next morning. The accommodations are extremely clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The best hot chocolate I've ever had. Thanks Thom for the wonderful stay and taking such good care of some tired, wet and dirty bikers!

The positive review is good to hear. I'll add it to others I've heard. I'll be staying there tomorrow.

Cliff Manor is a good stay. If you have the upstairs room on the north, there is a good view of the river, capital, etc. The capital is just a few blocks to the east as well as a few good eating establishments such as Ari's and Madison's.

I have had the pleasure of two recent visits to Cliff Manor B&B. In late September i rode the Katy from Missouri Research Park to Columbia, MO. I stayed at Cliff Manor then and enjoyed the experience so well that i took my wife there for her birthday last weekend. She loved the experience as much as I did. Thom is an excellent host and brings years of professional hospitality management to meeting or exceeding your expectations. Thom's culinary skills are excellent and he prepares fantastic meals - delicious! (and very filling!). I look forward to the next visit when I ride the Katy again in the Spring. With the new bike and pedestrian addition to the bridge across the Missouri river, the route from the trail to Cliff Manor is direct, safe, and very easy with no riding in traffic. Cliff Manor sits on a side street about a half a block from the end of the brige crossing. I highly recommend Cliff Manor and Thoms warm hospitality to anyone seeking the best place to stay while in Jeff City. - Jim

Takes 3 miles to get there from Katy trail, there is no shuttle as advertised. However, GREAT option if you need place to stay in Jeff. City...beautiful location, easy to find and GREAT service, Tom locked up our bikes and even filled our water bottles in the morning. Highly recommend it, just make sure you have 3 miles of riding left in you to get there!!!

Thom does not miss a detail! Cliff Manor caters to cyclist. We had been biking 38 miles in rain all day. Our bikes were caked with sand, dirt and mud. We were damp, chilled and tired. Upon arrival we asked about a place to clean our bikes. Thom kindly replied, We will take care of that for you, put your water bottles in the freezer overnight and have your bikes and bottles waiting out front in the morning ready for your departure. We could have kissed him. Cliff Manor is ran very professionally and Thom has not missed a detail when it comes to accomodating his guests. Well done Thom. We WILL be back.

We stayed at 5 different B&B's along the trail and while they all had great points, we would have to say Cliff Manor was one of the highlights of the trip. The home is beautiful with a rich history. Our host was very professional, taking care of our every need. The suite was outstanding, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the breakfast was great in both presentation and taste. We loved the egg blossoms and the scones.

I had the pleasure of staying here two nights just riding an out and back on the second day.

The B&B is great and Tom is the consummate host. Very spacious rooms with great views of

the river and in some cases the river and the Capitol. The rooms were large enough to

entice us to order pizza from a Greek pizza company (great pizza) and just stay in and play

cards with another couple. Tom slings a great breakfast and somehow turns Maxwell House

coffee into something very special.

I didn't have the good luck to stay here (next time I hope it will work out!), but want to rave about Thom's hospitality. I arrived at the No. Jeff trailhead after wet and muddy, and he graciously gave me a ride across the bridge to the front door of my hotel. He wouldn't accept anything for the transfer. He also gave me restaurant and tourist advice. This guy's the real deal!

We loved Cliff Manor. And our host and inn keeper, Tom, went out of his way to help us when unexpected problems with our biking arose. Lovely rooms, great food and many "extras" helped make this one of our best stays. A destination in itself to stay and investigate Jefferson City for a few days.

Cliff Manor is a great place for a Katy Trail cyclist. Our Riverview Suite included complimentary snacks and cold drinks and a very, very comfortable bed. Hospitality and service are first rate and not

intrusive.

We took advantage of the Deluxe Katy Trail package, including a cyclist's "goody bag" in the room (including some Aleve) and a sack lunch as we rode away.

Thom doesn't seem to be a cyclist himself but he has certainly done his homework about what a cyclist wants and needs. Bikes are well cared for and the frozen water bottles keep you thinking fondly of his hospitality far down the trail.

Breakfast was good enough to ask Thom where he got his sausage and what was the recipe for the wonderful "sauce" on the pancakes. We also had Thom prepare dinner for us at the B&B, so after our long day of riding we just walked down the steps to a fine dinner and then back up the stairs to bed. Perfect. Thom cares a lot about food.

By the way, we came over the bridge with no particular difficulty. From the North Jefferson trailhead take the spur off to the right until you get to the parking lot. Ahead of you is a overpass as you look toward the Capitol. Head off to your right a bit then back over the overpass to the "wrong" side of the busy highway, then head down the offramp and onto the bridge. The bike lane is six feet wide but you are riding against the traffic. An experienced road cyclist should have no problems but Thom is very happy to ferry people to and from the trailhead. On the other side of the bridge keep left at the first street then turn left and head back up the short hill. Cliff Manor is the large white house just ahead on your right.

We were looking for a base for future Katy Trail rides, in both directions, and are happy to have found this place. The Amtrak station is just a few blocks away. We've already discussed the logistics of bookending a multi-day ride with two stays at Cliff Manor.

Larry Erickson from Seattle, WA on 10/23/2007 08:08 PM:
We were at Cliff Manor a couple weeks ago, and would certainly second the positive comments about staying there. Thom definitely tries to anticipate and satisfy cyclist needs with "automatic" services like freezing your water bottles overnight. We passed up the option for dinner there for our one night's lodging, but (1) the restaurants near by weren't that good and Thom's breakfast was great, so we have to recommend taking the dinner option.

We had a very pleasant stay at Cliff Manor after a day of riding the Katy trail. Thom picked us up at the trailhead (do NOT try to ride your bicycle across that bridge) and took us back in the morning. He also rinsed off our dusty bikes, put them in a safe place for the night, and filled our water bottles and put them in the freezer for the next days' ride. The room comfortable, reasonably priced, relaxing, and we had a great view of the capital. Breakfast was to-die-for. We highly recommend it.

We just had a great experience at Cliff Manor last week also. Thom shuttled us and the frozen water bottles were such a treat. We had a riverview suite (and view of the Capitol). The location is great--walking distance to downtown. Breakfast was amazing. We highly recommend this B&B.

We stayed here on May 10 and had a wonderful evening before starting our bike trip. Thom made us feel very welcome and provided lots of information about where to eat in town. The area around the capitol is beautiful with several nice restaurants and an easy walk from the B&B. Breakfast was excellent also.

We enjoyed our stay at the Cliff Manor B&B. The room was beautiful, breakfast was delicious, and the hosts were very helpful and accomodating. We also enjoyed walking to dinner from the B&B and walking around Jefferson City in the evening.
