Stopped by for lunch. The lady behind the counter refused to fill someone's water stating that it would break Health Code but she had a young child walking around behind the counter, eating, and watching TV. Very rude but the food was acceptable if you need to stop.

Ann, you got to experience the real Mokane "no soup for you" Market! As we've said before, if they are going to be that rude, they should just feature it.

It's hit-or-miss depending on who is working that day.

She's seriously misguided about the health code, though.

Bikerboy, you are a great ambassador to the Katy Trail community and I like your diplomatic answer to this post.

We stopped by on a ride a couple of weeks ago and a nice young man made us some fantastic sandwiches.

Safe travels to all!

I've been to the mokane market numerous times and it's a roll of the dice. I've had one pleasant experience, but every other time it was less than great. My first time there I bought a bunch of food and waited out a storm at the table. 20 minutes later during the storm they told me I needed to get moving. This is the only town on the Katy where I've had a negative experience.

The bar next door is extremely friendly and offered to fill up my water bottles before I mentioned that I would be eating there. Definitely recommend them over the market.

We actually had a great chat with the owner and a friendly local gentleman at the Mokane Market! We bought drinks and a snack and sat for a break from the heat. It is a clean and bright store with simple groceries and basics like band-aids and wd40 besides the drinks, snacks, and sandwich counter. It made a great stop and we learned a bit about the town's past and present. It's right off the trail.
