Hi,

I'm looking for any info on camping along the trail. I along with 4 buddies will be using hammocks. Anyone know if I have to get permission or if there are designated areas? We will be going Clinton to Saint Charles. Planning to go Clinton to Boonville day #1, Boonville to Bluffton day #2, Bluffton to Saint Charles day #3, we have an extra day built in incase of weather or change in plans. Would we be able to just find a good area of trees to rack out?

I don't think there is any camping in Boonville. You may was to stop short at Pilot Knob and camp in the city park (not sure of trees for hammocks). Or go a bit further to New Franklin and the Katy Roundhouse. I think you can find trees for hammocks there. I don't know about Bluffton.

A companion on a ride Clinton- St Charles used a hammock. In Pilot Grove he tied it to the supports of the shelter in the park. At Hartsburg he found a suitable tree or trees at the edge of the greenspace at the trailhead. At Augusta he tied it to the uprights of the supports for the shelter over the campsite table. Which worked out well as it rained that night. ingenuity and desperation solve many problems.
