My husband and I would like to do a two day biking trip in preparation for me riding the state ride Which section of the trail and where would you recommend we spend the night?

You might give the Jefferson City to Boonville and Boonville to Sedalia sections a shot. Those are day 3 and 4 of this years ride and will be the most scenic and most challenging sections of this years riders my opinion.

And you can return to JEF by Amtrak. Or vice versa. Good lodging in Boonville or camping in Franklin. Plan well ahead to ensure Amtrak bike reservations.

The ride from Rocheport to Hermann is really nice - lots of shade from Rocheport to Jeff City. Some open areas from Jeff City to Hermann.
The Yates House B&B in Rocheport is great! Beautiful rooms and the breakfast was amazing. Lots of cute shops there also. The Cliff House in Jefferson City was a neat historical home with a rich past and many antique furnishings but modern amenities. They came and cooked a wonderful breakfast for us in the morning, otherwise, we had the home to ourselves. It may have been for sale, so not sure who is operating it now. Hermann is an interesting town also. We rented a home there, which was also very nice. The Chalet Vin (or something like that). Have a good trip.
