I have a student group wanting to do a three day trip on the Katy with 2 overnights from Booneville to Jefferson City. We would have a support vehicle but because they are kids, we wouldn't do more than 20 miles/day. There don't seem to be a lot of options between there for camping with access for a support vehicle. Does anyone have advice? Is there a better section for a group trip? We would have 40 people total.

Coopers Landing near Easley accommodated my son's boy scout troop a couple years ago. We had somewhere between 30 to 40 people, with maybe 20 tents. Definitely accessible for the support vehicles, plus they have Thai food, a (very) small store, and sometimes even live entertainment. We were very happy with the place.

Because of the size of your group, of course you would need to check in advance and make sure they can handle you on the needed evening.

There are also camping options at Hartsburg, although that's only about 10 miles from Jeff City.

I don't know what to recommend between Easly & Boonville. Rocheport is about midway between Easly & Boonville, but the camping options there are primitive and probably not accessible to your vehicle.

Wish I had more suggestions for you.

Good luck and happy trails!

Maybe consider starting out from New Franklin at Katy Roundhouse and camp there the first night. Then ride to Coopers Landing and camp there. Last day, ride to Jeff City and disperse the group from there.
