5 of us are planning a KT ride this coming April/May. A 57 mile day from New Franklin will put us at Turner Shelter/Hostel. After a big mile day we'd like to maybe eat out instead of cooking on our stoves. Are there any places within a few miles riding or shortly before reaching the Hostel? Thanks

Currently your options would be to stop in Jefferson City (12 miles west of Tebbetts with lots of options), eat at the Railwood Golf Club (about 9 miles west of Tebbetts with bar food), or ride another 6 miles past Tebbetts to Mokane (again bar food or you get deli sandwiches from the store. There is a restaurant right next to the Turner Shelter but it is currently closed. Hopefully it will reopen by your April/May ride date. Check back in as it gets closer.

Thanks Jim. I've ridden quite a few Rails To TRails but this will be our first KT ride. Looking forward to it.

I love the Turner shelter, but unfortunately there is no place to eat. It does have a fully equipped kitchen. There's a bar right next door, but it has never been open any time I was there. My husband and I always eat in Jeff City. We've eaten at Canterbury Hill Winery a couple times and have really enjoyed that. It's very close to the trail. Then we'll bike to Turner and have a small snack or dessert before calling it a night.

I would recommend Hartsburg, Dotty's is a favorite.
Just seconds off the trail. Getting over to Jeff. City is not fun if you have been riding all day. Plus town is full of hills and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my bike outside of restaurant.

Thanks guys. Looking forward to this ride. We were planning to ride the trail several years ago but torrential rains and severe flooding caused us to seek another ride.
