My husband and I are planning a trip in April 2017 to ride a short distance on the Katy trail (20 to 30 miles at the most)- we are looking for campgrounds (for RV electrical and sewer hookup) near or within riding distance from the trail and the most scenic part of the trail would be preferred. Anywhere from KC to St. Louis area. We are looking to make it a short trip and ride - taking our camper out for the first time on the trail. We would love to visit some wineries along the trail too. Recommendations appreciated.

The Roundhouse in Franklin would be perfect. The Trail goes right through the campground. You can easily ride into Rocheport and go through the tunnel and just past Rocheport is beautiful with bluffs on one side and the river on the other side. And, there is a winery in Rocheport, too!

Hey Jill-
My husband and I stayed at the Katy Roundhouse in Apr '17 with our TT. Rode over to Rocheport and also rode the opposite direction into Boonville. Les Bourgeois was the only winery we found in Rocheport but there were several little restaurants as well. Also plenty to eat and drink in Boonville. We absolutely loved our little 4 day trip. It was fantastic and we are trying to decide between doing that again or trying Hermann. I'm actually doing a little research tonight and just found out that the Hermann City Park also has full hookups. Hermann is about 3 miles from the trail near McKittrick. Plenty of wineries there...as well as a trolley that picks up near the campground to haul you around to the local wineries and restaurants.
