Day 2 we made our way from Weldon Spring to the Boone Monument Village near Marthasville.

We stopped in Defiance at the Yellow Farmhouse store. It was a very nice stop....then we made our way to Augusta. The Augusta Brewing Company is right on the trail. The (what seemed like) 1000 steps to climb to get up to the restaurant seemed unattainable - but it wasn't all that bad and so worth the trip. The food was excellent and it was a great place to sit back and relax for awhile.

We got to the Boone Monument after they had technically closed - but the kind lady there met us with keys and instructions. We spent the night in a Tepee. It was incredible. The bed was very comfortable and there is a heater and air conditioner inside. It was a slight hike to the bathroom (located in the main house) but it had a wonderful and relaxing claw foot bathtub.

There is a winery about a block away from the home - we had dinner there. One of the best meals we had the whole week. I would highly recommend - but they are not open for dinner every evening so be sure and schedule accordingly. There is nothing else near for food.
