We stayed on a Saturday, rate was $250. Not for the budget traveller but worth every $. Locked bike storage. Beautiful bedroom which was the cleanest I've ever stayed in. The house and gardens are gorgeous. The breakfast was delicious and there were afternoon snacks / cold and hot drinks available.
We booked the day before, so too late to arrange early check in but it would've been very useful if we'd been able to check in earlier than 4pm or even drop our bikes off.

The Dormitory at the School House for around $100 is for the budget minded. Otherwise the School House is overpriced although many apparent B&B newbies seem enamored with the place.

Wow, I stay at a beach-front condo on Maui for less than $250.00.

I noted in the original post that the School House room price was stated and the poster thought the price was "worth every $". Following posters took issue with this and said the SH is over priced. I'd like to point out that the SH has been in business for over 25 years, has many repeat customers who are not newbies to B&B travel but are in fact seasoned/experienced B&B travelers. The prices don't seem to bother them at all. BKT.com posters complain rather excessively about prices of things and services along the Katy Trail. I'd suggest that if the price of something is objectionable to you that you make the choice to spend your money other ways. Clearly, if a business charges what they charge and stay in business for many years, we can safely assume that their goods and services are of sufficient quality to attract enough customers to stay open. The School House appears to be a prosperous business so I'll go out on a limb here and assume whatever they are selling is good stuff. Luckily, the Katy Trail has a variety of business with a range of pricing to accommodate the demands of the traveling public. If you see an unfilled need for goods and services along the Katy, I suggest you pull up your boot straps and try your hand at business. You'll quickly find that you can't please everyone and you probably shouldn't try.

" BKT.com posters complain rather excessively about prices of things and services along the Katy Trail."

Care to back up that generalization with evidence? People on this site are perfectly capable of sifting through the positive and negative posts and making up their own mind. No need to lecture folks just because your business (or a business you like) gets a couple of posts questioning the value for the dollar. As you say "the Katy Trail has a variety of business with a range of pricing to accommodate the demands of the traveling public."

I will also add that, even though I hear the accommodations on Maui are superb, there is no easy way to get there from Rocheport on a bike and the costs for a shuttle is kind of pricey.........

Well Bro, perhaps I meant it must be a fantastic place based on the comparable price. ??

My apologies.......just another one of my sad attempts at humor.
