Just remember that it takes years (if not decades) for a trail to be as nice as the Katy. The reason there are sections that are soft is because they are laying down the fines so it will eventually become like the Katy. The only other option would be to keep it closed for years until the entire trail is perfect for riding. The trail just opened a few months ago. Sheesh.

Just an update on this. I've ridden the trail all along the stretch from Pleasant Hill to Leeton recently. I encountered no soft spots at all. The trail is, in general, in great shape. There are a few areas that haven't been repaired to 100% since the heavy rains in late summer, but nothing too bad. Mostly very good condition. Just an FYI to anyone curious.
