Just wanted to drop in and say thank you to all who've posted such useful information.

We just finished yesterday (Sunday). Started Weldon Springs-->Hermann-->Rocheport (with an ill fated off trail detour)-->Windsor-->Clinton

We rode East to West (made logistical sense for us.....but the long gradual climb was tough). Trail rode great, except after last Thursday's rain. It was a slog from Weldon to Hermann through wet, soupy limestone.

3 long days, 3 nights, and one short morning. (60, 100, 70, 20)

Happy to answer any questions while the trip is fresh in my mind.

Recos

Food:
Dinner at Cinco de Mayo in Windsor (Jose was SUPER friendly)
Dinner at Abigails in Rocheport (spendy, but delicious)
Augusta Brew Haus
Miracle Diner in New Franklin

Lodging:
Kim's Cabins in Windsor were fantastic and affordable
The train car at Katy Trail B&B was just the right kitsch
French Hill Guest House in Hermann was a welcome extravagance

Shops:
Red Wheel in Jefferson City (quickly fixed a broken spoke for cheap..and beer)
Champion in Sedalia (a little gruff, but knowledgeable and capable)

I am planning to ride the trail the end of this month. I don't want to make reservations for places to stay because I don't want to be on a strict schedule. Will I be able to find places to camp or find a room without reservations or do you know? Any help is appreciated!
