We plan to ride the trail in September St. Charles to Clinton. We will be on a recumbent and a trike. Is there a place to store these types of bikes in Clinton so we can take Amtrak back to retrieve our vehicle once finished.

Am not sure about bike storage in Clinton, but do know that there is no Amtrak station in Clinton. There is a station in Sedalia. Check with the bike shop there at the depot. They may be accommodating.

Shuttle services are available Clinton to St Charles. Reasonably priced if you can share cost with at least 4 riders. Check the link on the home page of this site. A small uhaul-style rental truck *may* be cheaper if only two people and you could pack your recumbent and trike. Currently about $230 + tax and fuel from Clinton to St Charles. One-way car rental might also be an option for regular bikes.

I've wondered why there are not vehicle transfer services advertised to transport or drive your car to a desired trail head... Liability issues? Cost?

I had the same question about storage in St. Charles. There is a bike shop there that could be contacted.

-- Great idea. Sounds like a marketing opportunity. Or you could buy a house at both ends and then just do the commute as needed. Even better, you could drive the biker's vehicle to the other end and ride your bike back. More days on the trail. :)
