Anyone know when the stretch of the trail from mile marker 35 to Machens will reopen. Started my ride yesterday from Greens Bottom and was trying to ride all the way to Black Walnut but the trail was closed at mile marker 35 due to flood damage
Thanks!!!

May 2017 you said at mile marker 35 road closure due to flood damage. Going thru Black Walnut to Machens. Is it open yet. We want to complete the last 30 miles from Weldon Springs where we stopped last trip. Last weekend. Thanks

You can get around it still. Sometimes if it's dry, you can walk your bike through the bad part. The sand can be very deep making it dangerous to ride most bikes on it.

There is also a way that you can ride or walk you bike around the bad part by staying on the levee. However, I believe that this is private property and may even have crops growing on it. I rode it once and there were big ruts and bumps in it making it dangerous to ride.

You can also get off at some place like Black Walnut and take roads to Machens. Hwy 94 is rather busy at times, but I have ridden it.

Of the 237 miles of the Katy, this one small section (probably 1/4 mile) is the only section constantly in need of repair. It's at the low point of the Katy, and the Missouri River washes in and out frequently. It's passable most times by just walking your bike through. I am not sure there is a more permanent solution other than keeping the trail on the levee to avoid that section.
