Hi folks,

I'll be doing a tour from Jefferson City to St. Charles in July. Just curious what the mosquito situation will be like. Will it be horrible? We'll be camping two nights, staying in a b&b for one other. Would anyone have concerns about doing that?

We certainly have mosquitos in Missouri in the summer, particularly near the river. Just wear mosquito repellant and you should be fine. They typically don't bother you while you are moving on your bicycle, but, when you're camping, they could be annoying.

I was just on the Katy yesterday - as long as you are riding no problem. When you stop, stop in the sun not in the shade if you can. Trail-heads are usually ok, most are not directly in the woods.
Mosquitos will converge in the shade and unfortunately when you camp. I'd be concerned only if I didn't bring bug spray...
