I need to cross Missouri River (on bicycle) to get to Amtrak Station in Washington. Does anyone know the best way?

There is a back road from trail to base of bridge just west of Augusta but you still have to ride the bridge. My favorite way is to wait at Dutzow trailhead until someone with a bike is going into Washington and offer ten dollars if they will take me in with them. I have also had people in trucks that stopped at the Deli right there take me in. Some won't take the money but if they do I feel it is well worth it. Usually only takes 10-15 minutes to find someone too.

Thanks, Doug. I'll try that. If I don't find a ride, how dangerous is crossing the bridge as a Plan B?

I haven't done it since they started the construction of new bridge. Sunday morning not bad but otherwise there is usually too much traffic in a hurry to suit me. Construction might slow it down but it also gives drivers even less patience. If you wait for a break and then sprint the bridge shouldn't be too many cars come up behind you. If you DO have to ride it take the whole lane. Don't let them get alongside of you. Then as soon as you get off the bridge in town get off the road totally. Go around the block if need be. I think you'll find a friendly ride in though. I ALWAYS have.

I usually attach 5 or 6 of the larger swim noodles to my bike and float it across the river. Be sure to connect a tether to the bike so it does not float down stream.

i have called ahead to revolution cycles before and they will come and pick you up and take you anywhere you want in Washington. Dont remember cost but it was reasonable and that highway across to Washington is dangerous , at least I thought it was.
