Rode Pleasant Hill to Sedalia today.

I wish horse riders would stay off the trail when wet. Lots of horse divot damage around Medford area.

Weird coarse gravel from slightly west of Chilhowee and approximately 6 miles east. Would be bit of a pain if you were on the wrong bike.

Surface gravel quality is very good west of Chilhowee to PH, but is less consistent even after the 6 mile coarse zone to Chil's east. The rest of the way to Windsor, it's decent but not as good as the smaller stuff on the PH/Medford end.

Side note. A bit of a Deliverance vibe on the RI portion of this ride. Lots of interesting homes/farms where tons of junk is spread everywhere. Not the most uplifting scenery. I don't recall this many Sanford and Son style hamlets on the Katy.

Steady 15-ish MPH headwind the ENTIRE ride sapped a lot of the fun out of this one.

Grateful to have a trail like this so close to Lee's Summit. Hopefully it gets connected with LS.

Hardly saw any riders or hikers until half way to Sedalia from Windsor. From that point on, saw a fair number of people using the trail.

By the way, the cashier at the Casey's in Windsor told me they also have a location in Leeton. I was unaware of this, and it's good info.

Thanks for this informative posting on your 2/23 ride! Curious if you could share if you made a bike route from Lees summit to Pleasant Hill. Also, how long did the ride take from Ph to Sedalia? Want to do the same ride very soon!

We are taking the train to Lees summit and riding back to St Charles in the beginning of April. Would love it if someone could give us a safe route to Pleasant Hill from the amtrak in Lees Summit. Thanks!

There is a thread on this forum that addresses the same question regarding routes to the Rock Island trailhead in Pleasant Hill from the Amtrak station in Lee's Summit.
