Does anyone know the condition of the Katy north of st Charles? It was a mess last year.

The last time I went out to Machens, it wasn't any better. Between mile marker 34 and 35 is the bad part. If dry, you can walk your bike through it. There was some very deep sand that I couldn't ride through. Or you can walk on the levee; however, I think that it might be private property. I found it also too rough to ride with my touring bike. Other than that, it's OK.

We didn't try it last Fall. We stopped in St. Charles. I did call the office and they were very helpful regarding the condition, or lack of condition of the trail between St. Charles and Machens. You might try calling them for an update.

I rode it about two weeks ago. I was a lot better than when I rode it in the fall, but the wet spots were a bit of a challenge. I have thought about using the levy as well, but have never tried it. I ride a cyclocross bike so I can generally handle the soft parts, but I could not do so on my hybrid let alone my road bike.
