STAY HERE!!!
I stayed on a Wed midweek night as an overnight layover on a bike trip along the entire Katy Trail. I happened to have the entire mansion (that's what it is) to myself as the lone guest.
I highly recommend this B&B. Everything about it is well-done, classy and with the greatest detail directed to the Guest. The decor alone is inspiring; well appointed in period furnishings and artifacts. Obviously an OLD house, the place was immaculately clean. The bed, bath, room were all excellent. A cool evening on the veranda was great place to sit and enjoy a view of the Capitol dome.
Liz, the managing host, was welcoming and attended to my every need upon check in. She offered immediate bottled water and refreshment, and escorted me around the house to explain the history, layout, services. Great.
One of the best parts was Elizabeth the Cook, who came to the B&B to personally prepare my breakfast to order. I had some "special needs" for the morning repast and she was gracious in every sense. I greatly appreciated her thoughtful and generous service.
If you plan a Katy ride and want to break the trip into reasonable segments (30-40 miles a day or so), there are very few places to stay in the long empty place between Rochefort and Hermann. N. Jeff City is the right spot to get off the trail and enjoy and evening at the Cliff.
The only "shortcoming" for bike travelers is (a) the interesting bike ride across the Mo River Bridge and the Jeff City spur - but it's worth it; (b) no good convenience stores nearby for personal supplies/drinks, etc.; (3) only one evening eating establishment within walking distance - but it's civilized.
Liz (the mgr) ensured my bike and bike trailer were securely locked in the shed. They have facilities for riders. BUT ..... the ride across the spur and bridge are very well worth it.

At the Cliff Manor Inn you get everything one could wish for and expect in a B&B. The price is right. The ambience was fantastic and appropriate to my mission. The customer service was beyond expectations. If ever I ride the Katy again, the Cliff Manor Inn will be one of my stops.
