We will start riding the trail from Clinton to St Charles on Monday the 11th. Would someone please let us know the conditions? Sounds like rain??
Thanks

The trail dries quickly after a shower. The weather channel can let you know if it sounds like rain on the dates you wish to ride.

Phil from Gray Summit Mo on 9/11/2016 1:05:59 PM:
The trail is closed from Augusta Mo trail head to about the 68 MM. There is repair work going on plus I think the rain made things worse. There is no completion date posted. There is blacktop roads to get around it. 09/11/2016

What exactly are you expecting for someone to tell you Ed? What "conditions" are you worried about? The exact temp? Location of each bump? Facilities conditions? You've asked a very broad question and then act as if you didn't get the specific reply you wanted with your double?? It's not a game my friend. Ask what you want to know so someone will know what to answer. Otherwise, come on down. The trail's great??

Quit being rude Anonymous.

Edward, according to weather.com, the temperature at St. Charles will start at 63 degrees at 8 am and go up to 81 degrees tomorrow. That's great for Missouri. There is a chance of rain Thurs. and Fri., but here in Missouri, as in many places, that can change.

For major problems in terms of trail conditions, go to the home page on this site, find the Trail Conditions and Advisories link and click on that. The one at the bottom is the most recent. Also, if you use facebook search for the Katy Trail State Park on there.

The most recent comment on facebook from Katy Trail State Parks, "Heavy rain fall over the past couple of days have caused washouts and rough surfaces in many areas due to flash flooding. Please take your time and be aware of trail surface if you are on trail this weekend."

Department of Natural Resources (DNR) gets on the trail very quickly and repairs any damage. You'll have a great time, we're all happy to have people from other states coming to Missouri to ride our Katy Trail. And ignore snarky comments from people posting as Anonymous. Those people don't eat enough fibre and are full of you know what. Ask anything you want to on this forum.

Quit being a know it all Cathy.

My advice was just as relevant and useful as yours. The difference being I did not type a name in the Your Name field above. When this site does not have registered users where you can read someone's profile with verified information, typing Cathy or anything else in a field does not automatically grant you superiority.

You can call it full of you know what if you'd like, but the trail does dry quickly after a shower. It's a fact. And one that has been posted here many times, by people who type nothing in the name field and by those who have cute made up online names.

It is also a fact that day to day weather information can be more accurate than someone posting weather information days in advance. The weather channel app or website online IS a more up to date resource than mention of weather days in advance here. True, even if I don't type a cute name in the box above.

About being snarky, to drill down to find out what someone wants to know is quite common. It happens all the time. Go to the doctor and see if he asks you questions or just starts spewing information. My guess is he'll ask you a question or two so he can figure out what the problem is. I took the doctor approach after it seemed I hadn't provided enough. You came in late to refute what was said and to make a point that I was full of you know what.

Much like Ed, who has the right to ask what he wants on this forum which you were sure to point out, I too have the right to answer as I see fit don't I? You can read in between the lines if you want. You can think you read tone and voice into words on the screen and figure out that I was being rude and snarky. I think I was helping and you didn't like the way I did it and it was all quantified with Anonymous in the name field.

So be it Cathy. Maybe next time you should show up first and provide the only valid information available. Or come in late and refute the way others have tried to help by aligning with the poster and stating that I was full of you know what.

For me, it is nice to be able to attach names with the posts, as it gives some sense of continuity. But as is pointed out, that's not required.

This forum is a wonderful source of information and advice from people with local knowledge and experience with the trail. The generosity and congeniality of this community helps promote the trail.

Thanks to the webmaster, sponsors, and the participants!

Ditto what Jon said.

I'm with Cathy. I can't see where Anonymous offered any information other than the trail drying quickly, whoop de doo, and "location of each bump" is definitely snarky. However, I don't think Anonymous is rude, just hateful and insulting. What "help" did Anonymous offer? I don't see any. Cathy on the other hand DID offer Ed some useful information. I know Cathy, Midsouth, Trek, Arky Kenny etc and can say hello to each of them on the trail. Not so with someone that hides behind anonymity. It is the mark of a coward that is ashamed to own their statements. Anonymous, review your life. What makes you feel the need to be insulting belittling and mean in each of your posts? Cathy, everyone here can see the difference.

Cathy from Jefferson City on 9/14/2016 12:25:56 AM:
Thanks for your kind words Doug. I too believe that people posting on forums with fake names, or as anonymous tend to post things they would not say to your face. Granted a few people post as Anonymous on this site because they just don't want to take the time to type their name, but others just don't want their identity known, and proceed to go overboard with being negative and criticizing. The great thing about this forum is that the majority of us are friendly and enjoy sharing our thoughts about the Katy Trail, tires, hamburgers (the ones at the Mokane Bar and Grill and the Riverside Bar & Grill in Portland are awesome!), the weather, the Missouri River, and this, that and the other.
