We are planning to ride the entire tail West to East... Leaving the car in or around St. Louis. We want to take the Amtrak from St. Louis to Kansas City (for the cool factor) but then will need a shuttle to Clinton. I know there are shuttles that go back and forth but I was wondering if there was one that did a KC to Clinton shuttle in particular. Also, is there a BnB that you guys would suggest at the eastern trailhead where we could stay the night before we take the train to KC? Something relatively close to the trailhead would be excellent. Thanks!
Rita

Look under trip planner and call a few of the shuttle providers on the west end of the trail. I'm sure you can find one for the right amount of money.

I'd consider the Amtrak to Sedalia instead of KC. Then either ride to Clinton if you must ride the whole trail, or skip that small piece and spend your time on more scenic parts of the trail. Diamond frame bikes only and no roll on trailers on the train.

Haven't stayed there but the Loco House is pretty popular in St. Charles. They may shuttle you to the Kirkwood station.

We can pick you up at KC if you like, or if you prefer take Amtrak to Warrensburg or Sedalia, and we can pick you up from either place and then you can stay at our Bed and Breakfast: Haysler House Bed and Breakfast. Call us at 660-885-2117 if youo are interested.

My brother and I made the same trip you are planning in June and stayed at the Haysler B&B in Clinton. We took Amtrak from Washington MO to Warrensburg and Roger (Haysler house)picked us up with our bikes at the Amtrak depot. The Haysler house has a TON of history and is located very close to the Clinton trail head. Breakfast was amazing and so was their hospitality. Couldn't ask for a better start to our trip. That's the west end of your trip.
The East end is a little trickier, you might stay in Old town St. Charles (east end of the Katy)and get a shuttle to Amtrak. Try the bike shops in St. Charles I'm sure they will have a shuttle or know how to get one for you.
