Wanting to drive to Machens and find secure place to park car for several days to ride trail both ways.

IndyDave, there is no place to park in Machens. Best idea is to drive to St. Charles (12 more miles), park at the designated lots; ride to Machens and back to say that you did that section. However, realize that the Machens to St. Charles section is rough with the heavy rains we have had. In my opinion, the Machens section is the roughest on the entire trail because it's the low point of the trail and is adjacent to the river.

Thanks Don... Found out from Katy Trail State Park personnel 800-334-6946 that its ok to park car at the St. Charles trailhead. She advised me to give auto description to the police 636-949-3300 so they'll know what's going on. Thanks for your help... Happy cycling!

Be aware the trail is closed between St Charles and Machens at mile marker 34-36. I talked with the East Regional Park office today and they advise it will remain closed for some time. Also, the trail is currently closed between mm 85-89...this closure looks to be fairly temporary. Check katytrailstatepark.Com for the latest closures and other trail condition issues.
