Fellow cyclists, wanted to alert you to a special group of riders you might see spinning through the Midwest, end of June/early July. It’s the Texas 4000, UT students riding from Austin TX to Anchorage Alaska, on a 70-day journey to raise funds for cancer research. You can read more about these amazing kids at http://www.texas4000.org/route/ozarks/, but be looking for them on roads around Springfield and St. Louis as they wind their way up to Illinois and Minnesota. They don’t get to take the Katy Trail, unfortunately, but certainly deserve your encouragement if you see them!

As well, those who rode BAM 2016 did not ride on the Katy either, but they too certainly deserved your encouragement also. Even if you didn't seem them!

Good point! These people who give up their whole summer for cross country treks are amazing! And the pro racers of RAAM are going right through Missouri on Highway 54 any day now, I believe the leader is in Kansas today.
