Hello,
I have been told that my grandfather was a railroad engineer for KATY. He lived in Parsons Kansas. His name was Reuben Wheeles. Can you provide any information about him?

That's a neat connection, but this forum is more about the bike trail that runs on the former MKT line, not actual railroad history. I bet if you do a google search for MKT retirees there is some sort of former employees association that could help.

The 1910 census shows that Reuben was a Fireman on the railroad at the age of 26. That fits the pattern to become an engineer. I had several relatives who started out at lower levels and worked up to fireman and then engineer.
