is hunting allowed along the trail? We will be on horseback and didn't want to encounter hunters. Thank you!

Might be a good topic to add to the FAQ. It's a bit hard to find, but here's some info:
On this site's home page, under Trail Conditions, there is a link to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Katy Trail page.
On that page, click General Information on the right. Then, under Permitted Uses, it says "No hunting or discharging of firearms is allowed."
Under Safety Guidelines, it says "Adjoining property may be used for commercial or business opportunities, quarrying, farming operations or hunting."
Somewhere else (can't find the official source), I read that while hunters are allowed to hunt on adjoining property, it is forbidden to shoot *across* the trail (thank goodness!).
The advice in the other thread to wear hi-vis clothing is a must for hunting season.
