We are looking at biking from Green Ridge to Windsor or Calhoun - thoughts?? Just a relaxing Saturday bike ride. Is there a trail or is it highway? Are the restaurants in Windsor still open? Most posts are very dated. Thanks!

You could ride on the Katy Trail...

Yes, Katy trail runs through Green Ridge to Calhoon and Windsor. There may be a bar serving food in Green Ridge, but there should also be a Casey's. There is also a Casey's in Windsor (that means drinks, snacks and fuel in the form of pizza by the slice). About all Calhoon has is a C-store, and it is a few blocks off the trail fronting to Hwy 52. Windsor also has a Dairy Queen on Hwy 52 and probably a diner or two. All those are off the trail about 2 to 4 blocks (south).

Another undocumented feature of this section of the Katy is the proximity of Green Ridge to Whiteman AFB, home of the B2 stealth bomber. If you hear loud engine noises overhead, take a peak and you might catch a glimpse of one.....they are the big, black batwing looking contraptions. You rarely see or hear them coming, but have no trouble hearing them leaving. Base is only 15 miles or so north of Green Ridge.
