Alex from Kansas City on 4/23/2015 12:04:19 PM:
Hello
I am a reporter for Kansas City's National Public Radio station, and I am doing a story about the economic impact of the Katy Trail. Is there anyone planning to ride the trail in the next few week who would be up for doing a short interview along the way? I can meet you someplace where you are riding. Thanks, Alex alexs@kcur.org

ArkyKenny on 4/23/2015 2:44:33 PM:
I'm not riding or wanting to be interviewed, but I hope you have found the threads on this page discussing the public meetings that were going to happen a few months ago, and the economic impact discussions we had on those threads.

Also, be sure to talk to Doug R. in Bluffton: He will do a great job of filling you in on some of the finer details of the economic impact of the trail.

Cathy from Jefferson City on 4/23/2015 6:11:07 PM:
Hi Alex, I agree that Doug Rendleman from Bluffton is an excellent spokesperson for the Katy Trail. I am planning to ride on Sun. 4/26/15. I live in Jefferson City. I'll start at Mokane and go east to Portland. We could have lunch at the Bar and Grill in Portland. They make great hamburgers. I am a woman, instead of giving my age on a public forum I will just say I am eligible for social security (no spring chicken). I live in Jefferson City and have been riding the Katy Trail since 2005. Perhaps you could arrange to also talk to Doug the same day. His B & B is in Bluffton, which is 5 miles east of Portland and easily reached on Highway 94. Let me know if this would work for you. If not, I am sure someone else would be delighted to be interviewed. I am assuming this will be a radio interview. Thanks to AriyKenny for pointing you to the previous comments from earlier in the year when the Rock Island meetings were happening.

NPR no doubt will give the people side of the story. Good for the trail riders, hopefully.

Anonoh on 4/24/2015 7:48:57 AM:

My husband and I will be riding the full trail at the end of May, first part of June. This is the second time we have ridden the Katy Trail. We are from Colorado.

Hi,
I am currently just finishing the trail. I took Amtrak to the Arch, pedaled across St Louis to St Charles, then to Augusta, then to Hermann (two days). Due to predicted rain/cold I took the train to Sedalia and pedaled to Weston/ Clinton. I the the train back to KC from Hermann on Friday evening.

Yes you can interview me.

Rick

Interesting read. Thanks Don.

Anonoh on 5/27/2015 7:20:27 AM:
Good piece Alex, presents both sides of the story. Wasn't aware there are 300 plaintiffs against the trail. Possibly decades, bummer. And you did contact Eric. We need some white knights.

Scott from Waterloo IL on 5/27/2015 9:33:26 AM:
I would love to be interviewed. My friend and I are leaving out Thursday the 28th and coming back in to St. Louis the 31st.

We are doing the whole trail in 3 days.

Don from Ellisville, MO on 5/27/2015 1:06:54 PM:
Scott, maybe you misread, but the interviews took place in April/May and his piece ran this week. Good luck on your ride this week.
