We just got home from riding the Katy Trail from Jefferson to Bluffton. Took the train from Sedalia to Jefferson City and had a very enjoyable train ride, leaving our car at the Sedalia station. Stayed at the Baymont just up the rode, which was fortunate since I did not plan on how to get our bags and bikes from the train station to the hotel, but it was a short walk of about 3/4 of a mile. Pretty convenient if you don't mind the walk. Had originally made plans to stay at the Rendleman Home in Bluffton, but those changed when Doug's place was hit by a car. He graciously made another recommendation and still picked up our bags at the hotel and transported them to the Spirit in the Sky B & B outside of Hermann. This was our first bike adventure and our first B & B experience as well. Aside from the Baymont employees not being very familiar with the Katy Trail, everything was even better than imagined. The Baymont was reasonably priced, and really fairly convenient both from the train station and the trail. Doug was absolutely amazing. He recommended Charlotte at Spirit in the Sky, a former Catholic Church that is now her home, which is about 12 miles outside of Hermann, but he took us from his house in Bluffton to Charlotte's, where he fixed a wonderful dinner, and then came and picked us up the next day so we could roam around Hermann. Charlotte was wonderful as well, and her place is absolutely beautiful! It felt as if we were visiting long-lost relatives. Having now stayed at a B & B, I'm not sure I would do it again, except for Charlotte or Doug, and it would just be wrong to venture into that area and not stay with them. Enjoyed so much talking with them and getting to know them better, and the trail was incredible too. Must mention Rick at the Mokane Bar and Grill also. Had a great beer and lunch while on the trail and can't wait to go back there either. And for anyone worried about age and shape, there were four of us, all in our 50's, and not
