My husband and I plan to ride on the Katy trail towards the end of September. Is this a good time to go? Is the weather generally good for riding in September?

Late September is a great time to ride the Katy. The hottest days are behind us then, and the trail is quieter because kids are back in school and college. That means it's easier to get B&B reservations, especially during the week. As always, plan a flex day or two in case of inclement weather. You don't want to be forced to ride during a storm.

September is probably my favorite time to ride the trail... But will disagree just a little with the previous post...rooms can be hard to find...especially on the weekends..and especially toward the St. Charles end of the trail. At least that's been my experience. Keep in mind that some of these small communities only have a few rooms on offer to start with. All that said - GO!

Kids back in college can fill lodging in Columbia, Boonville, and the surrounding area in September/October on MU game days. Weather in September and October can vary greatly, generally pleasant days though. Book your lodging early.

Anonymous, as I said above, it's easier to get B&B reservations during the week. I have made numerous whole-Katy trips in September and October with very few problems during the week. I don't even consider it for the weekends.
