Are there any spots on the trail besides Boonville that you have to cross the MO River? From the map I can't tell what it does around St. Charles

Boonville is the only place the trail crosses the river.

There is a side trail at page ave south of st. charles that crosses into st. louis county to creve coeur park, but it's not technically part of the katy.

That crossing at Page Steve mentioned is very nice. There is a big hill that winds back and forth to get to the parking lot, and from there it is very easy to find the bridge. It is well separated from traffic, and the trail that heads to Creve Coeur Park is as nice as the Katy. when you get to the Park you can ride around the lake and come all the way back.
