I want to take three days and ride the katy Trail. I don't ride much but I am good shape. I wouldn't mind doing a little hiking. So what I want to do is ride out on the trail, stopping along the way for pictrues and eating, ect. until I reach a camp site. After I set up camp, maybe hike a small trail to relax. The next day, I want to be able to leave my camp set up and drive half a day out, again stopping along the way and just enjoying the day, then ride back to my campsite. Relax again. On the third day, I want to ride back to my starting point. I would like to be able to stop and see any sights along the way. So my question is, Starting in St. Charles, what campsite should I shoot for? What sights are must see along that portion of the trail? Any advise on such a trip? Thank you for any help.

I rode the complete trail in 3 days but not doing it your way. Sounds like you would get to Dutzow or Augusta. Lots of places to look at and divert for walking in the route St. Charles to Dutzow. Wineries, signs, towns, side trips, scenery. As to place to camp, don't know but click on one of the above topics and should find one.

Starting in St. Charles I would ride to Klondike Park near Augusta. Nice campground, trails in the park to explore. Augusta is a nice area to wander around for awhile and visit for a day. The next day would be a good ride to the Dutzow Marthasville area.
