It looks like the trail is flooding east of Boonville again. Any one have any reports of damage? I know that McBaine was reported flooded on Sunday, Sept. 14, and the MKT trail into Columbia was flooded in numerous places and was shut down for all intents and purposes. I would imagine there are multiple washout, too.

9/15/08 -- The following sections of trail are closed due to flooding and flood damage:

MM 84.7 (Treloar) to MM 115.9 (Portland)
west of MM 121.4 (Steedman) to MM 125 (Mokane)
MM 169.5 (McBaine) to MM 170.9
MM 179 to MM 182.3 (just west of Rocheport)

The trail at MM 189.5 (between New Franklin and Boonville) is very rough, as are many other sections. Short patches of trail also may have minimal water coverage.

Gates have been opened in multiple locations to allow emergency vehicles use of the trail near flooded areas.

Extreme caution is advised to anyone using the trail. Trail users should avoid closed sections and should never go around closure fencing.

Just rode from Dutzow to Matson and back. I can tell you there is two sections that you will have to walk your bike around some wash-out areas, no big deal only 10-20 yards of walking around damaged area, otherwise trail is passable from Dutzow to Matson. Some areas a little bumby due to running water on trail but nothing to slow you down. I actually ran into 2 state workers clearing the trail of down trees and such.

Rode Boonville to Rocheport yesterday. About 300 yards just east of New Franklin was covered with water, sometimes up to the tire hub, but it was passable. Then, about 2 1/2 miles west of Rocheport, about 2 miles was under water, but we were able to get thru. [The directions that DNR left were backwards--Rocheport westward, not from the point of the flood eastward, so--being out of state--we were really confused.]

We road Hartsburg west, but could get only 2.3 miles towards Milton before the water was top-of-the-tire deep.

Rode Hartsburg-Jeff City this morning no problem. Rode Rocheport to the Columbia side trail--no water, but beyond the Columbia cutoff, it was severely rutted, deep holes at the bridge just before McBaine, and water on the trail east of McBaine, so we turned around.

Just spoke with DNR superintendent and she said you can get thru Dutzow to Augusta, even though the website still said it was closed. Large tree down just west of Bluffton, but you can "carry" around it. 96.9 to 88 still underwater (I'm not sure if this was the road or the trail, sorry--my notes were incomplete!

Well that sounds ugly. We're getting ready to leave Friday for a trip from Sedalia to St. Charles but I'm finding it hard to believe that is actually a good idea anymore.

the tree west of Bluffton has been cut up. Water has already started to recede at mile 111 so don't freak out about three days from now. If you are resourceful it can still be done even if you have to use some side roads.
