Today, we rode from the Page Bridge to St. Charles. We continued to the end of the trail
just past 370, then took an off-shoot off of the path to get on the road below. It's here we
stumbled onto a sign for the MRT. It led over the 370 bridge. We backtracked and couldn't
figure out where it went from there. This seems to be a nationwide trail that never got
finished. Anybody have more info? Where is goes in St. Louis? Their website starts in
downtown and heads south!

When, and I hope it is soon, they open the extension to Machens you will only be a few miles from the Mississippi. In fact, if you are in Machens, you are probably closer to the Mississippi than you are the Missouri. I am not familiar with the MRT, but I would think it would be nearby.
Probably 80 percent of the trail is done and they even have the trailheads completed at Black Walnust and Machens. It's a little dicey on the section closest to St. Charles, but it can be navigated if you don't mind some weeds and rough ground.

Is it time for an update on the status of the Machens leg?

Indeed, while their website indicates that the route is mapped South of Hannibal, the directions start from St. Louis and go South.
