Reply to Isle of Capri Casino & Hotel (Boonville)

Beautiful rooms at the hotel, food was great and you can't beat the location...right on the trail. Check their website for room specials. We got a great deal. Very accomodating to bicyclists and the casino was alot of fun.

Did everything smell of cigarette smoke like in vegas? That is the only reason why I have not
gone yet.

Stayed there recently in a non-smoking room, which was just fine. The casino portion allows smoking. You can smell it a bit in the buffet area, which also allows smoking. There are pros & cons in staying there (and these are just my opinion). CONS: 1) It's got a styrofoam aesthetic to it (Capri is in Europe, not the Caribbean, by the way). 2) It's hard to get someone at the front desk, which is weird. Making reservations wasn't a one-call kinda thing. I had to leave a voice-mail message a few times, to get a couple of my questions answered. 3) Well, I gotta confess. I'm not really a gambler, and it was kinda sad to see how many seniors were throwing away their money with both hands. One at the bar asked, "Any luck?" I said I wasn't really into gambling, and he said, "Good for you. I wish I could stop." Ultra-depressing. 4) The buffet was kind of average, to me. 5) There's no room service either, which was kind of a bummer. 6) Annoying parrot voice announces elevator floors. Bleh! There are plenty of things to commend Isle of Capri, though: 1) It's right on the trail! That alone is worth gold. 2) It's easy to get a taxi. 3) The rooms are bright, cheery, clean, and the shower's got pretty good pressure. Toiletries are great. Coffee's pretty good. 4) And the mediocre buffet? Hey, it's open, easy and accessible, which earns brownie points with me. Food was good enough for this chick! 5) Service was pretty nice, too. The staff are friendly. 6) They let you store your bikes on the premises, also a great thing. I'd probably stay somewhere else again for a different experience, but I salute Isle of Capri for being Katy-friendly. Shoot, maybe I would stay there again.
