I would like to rent a small cabin near the Katy Trail. Can anyone give me some ideas of where?

Susan,

Klondike Park is right on the Katy Trail and has new cabins [built last year] for rent. Follow this link:

Klondike Park outside of Augusta has cabins available.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by cabin. River Witch in Augusta has done up some neat old log cabins, but they don't have a full kitchen. You get breakfast at the restaurant across the street. And The Little House in Marthasville is a small 2 bedroom house that you can rent. I haven't stayed there, but Katy Trail B&B's Tree House in Rocheport may also be the kind of thing you are looking for.

Steamboat junction has a 2-story cabin at their campground that goes for $75 a night. It has a kitchen and bathroom in the cabin. They are located on the trail in Bluffton, between Rhineland and Portland.

If you are riding through Marthasville I would recommend The Critter Cottage. It is a few miles from the trail and you would not be able to ride to the cabin, but the owners will pick you up at the trailhead and take you back in the moring after you have a wonderful breakfast. It is an 1800's cabin that they purchased and had moved to their property. It is in a seculded area and is a very nice and quiet get-away. It has a modern wing added on with a modern bath with a jacuzzi tub that is big enough for two. Bob and Judy are great host! Like I said the breakfast is fantastic, Judy out does herself. I know I will stay there whenever I ride through there again.
