Great place to stop for the hiker. If the sign says "closed" go up to the window on Saturday morning and they will likely invite you in for coffee. Good coffee. Cheap prices. I had walked 6 miles from Tebbetts and was hungry so the coffee was great until I could get more breakfast later. Very friendly folks.

CAUTION: Significant trail damage (washouts) between Mokane and Portland. There are NO warning signs or barriers.

Stopped by today July 22, 2009. Great food great service. I was with my family and felt at ease having a great lunch there.

I've been to Mokane several times. The bar has excellent hot food. Try the catfish or tenderloin. The store has excellent deli sandwiches and pizza, potato salad. I've mailed some of my extra gear home from their post office. Everyone is friendly. GOOD people! Nice little town and worth the stop. Great well-kept old historical buildings.

My friends and I stopped at the Mokane Bar and Grill for lunch on 5/30/09 on our way from Jeff City to Hermann. The food was great--the double cheeseburgers some of my group ordered were enormous. The beer was very cold and the service was great. They couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. I would definately stop here again.
