Eber Haus Inn in Hartsburg
TJ from northern Virginia on 08/03/2019 04:35 PM:
Three of us Katy Riders stayed at Eber Haus Inn in early May 2019 for one night. Sarah had left the door open for us, and we arrived to park our bikes in the rear and enjoy cold drinks and snacks in the kitchen. Sarah was in touch with us to take our breakfast order, timing, and so on. 35th on Main provided a fine, delicious dinner, just up the street.
The inn in May was a clean, comfortable, first-floor bunk house. One large room held about four twin beds, and an adjoining room held a queen. One central bathroom was shared by all of us. There was gas heat and plenty of hot water, towels, and bedding.
We all slept well and had a hearty omelet breakfast the next morning.
I recommend Eber Haus for a clean, homey, and comfortable stay. Nothing too fancy, but it's just right for staying right on the trail with friendly hosts and a welcoming town.

The Eber Haus was one of the best experiences we had doing the entire Katy Trail. Sarah and Carl were wonderful and so entertaining. The food was Amazing!! The accommodations were great. We needed a night like this to recover from a long wet couple of days. Perfect! Thank you so much Sarah and Carl!

Hello--
We were hoping to book two rooms on June 7. Do you have any available? We have heard good things about your establishment. My email is jhibbing@unl.edu. Thank you for your help and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
John Hibbing

They may find you here....and maybe not.

It maybe best to contact directly to make your lodging reservations instead of the shotgun approach on an open forum.

I'm sorry to say that Eber Haus will be closing on May 10. We'll be sad to see them go.

There are other lodging options in Hartsburg and other nearby towns. As mentioned above, you'll have better results if you contact the inns directly.

Good luck and happy trails.

Sarah and Carl are awesome hosts. They went out of their way making sure all our needs were met, and believe me, we had needs. They insisted on feeding us a delicious pork chop dinner with wine, despite the fact that we couldn’t commit to a timeframe due to the rain that day. Their place is clean and private. You can’t beat this place!

Carl and Sarah were so accommodating. We were so tired when we arrived and wanted to take showers. Even though Carl was cooking the delicious dinner, he went out to get us bags of ice. Food was delicious and nutritious since Sarah is a dietitian. I would recommend staying at The Eber Haus Inn.

This is such a beautiful quiet place it use to be a hotel and they made it into a bed-and-breakfast Sara and Carl are wonderful people we had the most amazing chicken dinner that I've ever sunk my teeth into with diced potatoes and carrots and we had homemade peach pie with pecan ice cream. Breakfast was also amazing would highly recommend to stay here. This is probably the only place to eat at during the week if you spend the night here you'll get a hobo dinner and a breakfast. When we were here they had a boil out a broken pipe in town and they still were able to provide us with a wonderful meal plenty of bottled water for us to take our journey back.

I was riding the Katy Trail with 2 old friends, and we stopped in Hartsburg overnight. Can't express just how pleasant Sarah and Carl made our stay! Concurrently welcoming and respectful, they have created a wonderfully homey place to unwind after riding all day. And the food! Incredible supper and breakfast the next morning -- tasty, hearty, nutritious. Both Sarah and Carl checked in on us from time to time without being intrusive, and they couldn't have been more generous or friendly. Our time at Eber Haus Inn was among the highlights of our trip.

WONDERFUL
My husband and I arrived after a wet day of cycling.
We were able to hose our bikes off and Sarah greeted us with hot tea and homemade trail cookies.
Dinner was a delicious 3 course feast. Cold wine and beer was in the fridge.
Breakfast was another 3 course feast. The bed was comfy and the space cozy. Due to the weather we were unable to take advantage of the private patios. Would highly recommend this B&B.

Sisters Week on the Katy Trail

My two sisters and I were fortunate to book a night at the Eber Haus on our week-long Katy Trail experience (9/14/17). It was one of the highlights of our trip! Though we arrived quite early, Sarah graciously allowed us to come in and cool off. She provided fresh cookies, lemonade, cucumber water and other snacks. Dinner was a hearty, healthy home-cooked meal, with amazing sliced tomatoes, fresh bread, and home-made syrup for ice cream. We had the entire downstairs, which felt heavenly, after having spent the previous night in a very small, cramped space in bunkbeds no less. These beds were great, as was the ambiance, but what made the experience perfect was Sarah and Karl. They were wonderful hosts who quietly saw to our needs and left us alone to enjoy our privacy. We wished we'd reserved 2 nights here. I will definitely make Eber Haus part of our plans when we return to the Katy Trail!

The BEST Bed & Breakfast experience we had on the KATY trail. The special attention to detail was tremendous! My husband has celiac disease and Sarah's education as a registered dietician immediately put us at ease. Sarah and Carl greeted us with lemonade, gluten-free cookies along with several other gluten free treats, and a Hobo dinner with garden fresh food fit for a king, plus a nice glass of wine as we relaxed in the shade of their beautiful yard/garden. They went above and beyond our expectations. The stay was worth every penny. Thank you so much!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Eber Haus. It was a one-nighter while passing through on the KT trail. Four adults and 1 baby. Sarah and Carl were great hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious and plentiful. They even mailed some sunglasses back to us that we'd left behind.

After riding the Katy Trail all day, I was exhausted, sore and hungry when I arrived at the Eber Haus Inn in Hartsburg. Sarah and Carl eagerly awaited my arrival and made sure I had everything I needed. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.. very spacious accommodations, the bed was very comfortable, shower was like new with plenty of hot water, and the food was amazing. Sarah served a healthy home-cooked meal for dinner and a great breakfast to start the next day. I will back again and highly recommend staying at the Eber Haus Inn!

A perfect BnB after a long day on the trail. The owners are committed to providing a quiet and peaceful experience along with some of the healthiest and best food you'll find in MO. Try their trail cookies and you'll see for yourself. Excellent hosts, historic home, warm and welcoming and just yards from the trail. Would recommend this stop to everyone I know. Thank you Eber Haus!
