Camped here on June 28th, 2010. The snack stand was great, honor system with sandwiches, fuit, chips, drinks, etc. There is also another campsite/b&b before Steamboat Junction that sells pizza's for $10, left at the cross road and the house on your right.

Camped one night here--great facilities--great price--beautiful location. Lots of bugs--so bring your spray. But I'll be back. The 2-story cabin looked great and was only $30.

Doug, owner and operator, was a very friendly guy who came across our path at just the exact right time. My wife and I were biking the Katy Trail from Herman and were just right about to head back, but we kept going when we saw that there was a scenic overlook .4 miles up the road. Unfortunately, we never made it. My wife was riding up the hill and part of the gear mechanism snapped. So, we rolled back down the hill and stopped in Doug's driveway. I was getting ready to knock on his door, and low-and-behold, he came out. I asked him about how to find a ride back to Herman and he said that he would gladly take care of us as he's the local shuttle service. The charge was $20 (1.55/mile posted on his website), but we didn't pay a dime b/c there were some "stranded" walkers that were resting and hoping to find an Amtrak. Doug offered them a r...

Plan your trip around staying a night (or two like we did) with Doug. Do so and you will have a new friend for life as well as an amazing spot to rest and recoup after a day on the trail.
My friend and I dropped in unannounced, and were in the middle of setting up our tent (we weren't technically B&B stayers) when Doug came out and informed us that there was plenty of extras and to join them.
We also enjoyed the hot showers, and the wash house with room to stash our food, hang out, and even use a stove!...
